The Canada Sri Lankan Association of Windsor (SLAW) is a not-for-profit organization for the promotion of social and cultural values- mainly of expatriates of Sri Lankan origin and their offspring and dependents. This association was founded in August 2000. From its inception the Sri Lankan Association of Windsor (SLAW) encouraged the development of cultural values that had been molded by our ancestors for millenniums through activities. The elders set an example to the younger generations. The Sri Lankan Association of Windsor (SLAW) is also involved in the encouragement of sports amongst its members by making advances in the field of cricket. It also hopes to encourage other sports in the future. It absorbs new members who have migrated to Windsor and surrounding areas. Through its members, it helps newcomers feel at home in a new country. It also looks after the interests of student-migrants.

MEMBERSHIP
Membership is open to those of Sri Lankan origin or anyone who wishes to JOIN. Anyone who wishes to join the association may request its membership. There is no discrimination in the recruitment of new members on any basis- be it communal, religious or any other concerns. Anyone who subscribes to the aims and aspirations of the association could obtain membership. If, for some reason, one does not qualify oneself for full membership, one could initially become an Associate Member. It is strongly recommended that one reads and understands the SLAW Constitution to get issues clarified for on self.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
An Executive Committee would be selected from among its membership. The functioning committee that is active at any given time would be published in the pages of this web site. For information about office bearers and other relevant matters, the Constitution of the association would be very informative.

- To help build a healthy community by organizing sports competitions and help its members participate in similar activities organized in Windsor and surrounding communities from time to time
- To help students achieve their full potential by extending a helping hand through avenues available
